Dr Shirin Jacob
There are a few universal truths.
Women are special.
We want health.
We strive for happiness.
We seek love.
And peace.
We choose who we want to be.
As an obstetrician and gynaecologist I am privileged. I work with women through their most transformational times. Adolescence. Birth. Perimenopause. Menopause. I motivate my patients clarify how they want to improve their health and formulate an action plan to move forwards.
We come from different cultures, speak foreign tongues, have varied backgrounds. Nevertheless, I have discovered that we speak the same language and share the same stories. Stories of birth, death, of being daughter, wife, mother, friend. Places of loneliness, disappointment, celebration, challenges and disease. We are able to complete each other’s sentences. We all have the power to heal our families, pour balm on troubled souls, raise grounded children, support our partners and live fulfilled lives.
As a physician, my focus is prevention of disease. Our bodies speak to us through our cycles, our moods and our skin. Our search for Health cannot be isolated from the environment we live in, the purity of the water we drink, the warmth of the family that surrounds us, the strength of friends that empower us, the food that nourishes us, the setbacks that could break us and the values in life by which we define ourselves.
Prevention and the tools to perfect our health lie in our commitment to change our landscape by addressing vitamin and mineral deficiencies, balancing our natural hormones, eating wholesome unprocessed foods, taking moderate exercise, simplifying and balancing our lives. It is never too late to change.
The science of medicine and the art of healing in its most powerful form support us in this journey.
Breathe the freedom to make choices in this life.
Celebrate Living.
